Maintaining your scooter or electric bike

Maintaining your scooter or electric bike

Like a car or a motorcycle, micro-mobility products require attention and regular maintenance to ensure the safety and comfort of your travels, while extending the lifespan of your product.

SOME BASIC RULES:

- Beware of the rain : The electronic components of your scooter do not like water!

Like any electronic product, it should be protected from moisture as much as possible.
Some scooters are more durable than others, we recommend you check the technical specifications of your product.

In all cases, and whatever the model, it is necessary limit exposure to rain , protect the screen and the electrical compartment (mostly the deck where you put your feet) which are the most sensitive areas.

If you have been riding in the rain, you should immediately dry your scooter with a towel upon arrival, to limit potential moisture infiltration.

- Inflate the tires regularly to avoid punctures.
Most flat tires are the result of underinflated tires. To preserve your tires and tubes, check them at least once a week to ensure they are properly inflated.
The correct pressure is generally around 3.5 bar.

- Adopt the correct driving position, with the knees slightly bent, And anticipate acceleration and braking phases :
With each acceleration, the body weight is transferred backward and the natural tendency is to pull the handlebars, which should be avoided.
With each braking, the body weight is transferred forward and the natural tendency is to push the handlebars, which should be avoided.
By bending your knees and anticipating weight transfers, you preserve the stem of your scooter and maintain better balance, preventing falls.

- An over-discharged battery may stop working .
If the scooter will not be used for a long period of time (more than 3 or 4 weeks), make sure it is fully charged before storing it. Regularly check that it is still fully charged. Charge it fully if necessary.

- Adjust the brakes: Over time, brakes can become out of adjustment. We have provided a short video on brake adjustment .

- Do not force the mechanics:
Products are manufactured and adjusted to be used without excessive force on the mechanical components. If you have to force them, you may not be doing it correctly.
Do not hesitate to call us for advice.

- Carry out regular cleaning , especially of the mudguards and under the deck. This prevents moisture from stagnating with dead leaves and mud.

- Check that the screws have not become loose over time. If so, remember to tighten the screws or take your scooter or electric bike to a specialist for servicing.

- For added safety, check that the front and rear lights are working.

Generally speaking, the national federation of micro-mobility professionals recommends having your EDPM serviced at least once a year by a professional.
